Our mission

"The mission of HAVIN Inc. is to provide supportive services and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and their significant others; to increase public awareness, and effect critical changes in public policy in response to sexual and domestic violence."

HAVIN Inc. was founded in 1979 by a grass roots organization of women. In its earliest state this group of women worked toward their goal of providing services to battered women and survivors of sexual assault by establishing a volunteer-staffed hotline for survivors of abuse. In early 1983, funding from PCADV was secured and HAVIN established its first 24-hour hotline and began a "Safe Home" program for battered women. In mid 1983, PCAR recognized the work being done with survivors of sexual assault in Armstrong County and funded HAVIN to continue their services.

HAVIN has been chosen by Citizens Bank as their "Champion in Action"

Citizens Bank and WPXI-TV today named Kittanning organization HAVIN (Helping All Victims in Need) as their third quarter 2011 Champion in Action® in the category of violence prevention.
